10:00am [10:00am] Live-Streamed Abbreviated Shabbat Service 7.25.2020 @ 10AM
Description:

Shabbat Candle Lighting on Friday 7.24.2020 is @ 8:29 PM Minneapolis Time

Thank You to Bruce Colton; throughout COVID-19 physical-distancing, Bruce has acted as our "Ground Control" in making these Live-Streams possible. Yishar Ko'ach Bruce!"

This Shabbat we begin the 5th Book of the 5 Books of the Torah, Devarim (Words), Deuteronomy (repitition). Again the laws with some additions. Moses addresses the children of Israel and presents them with some warnings and some promises, blesses them, and dies.

Main Ideas in Parashat Devarim (Words): (1:1-3:22) Moses explains and interprets the law to the people.
This is the 3rd of 3 Shabbatot, between the time when the walls of Jerusalem were breached by the Babylonians on the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th of Av, when the Temple was destroyed. Special readings from the Books of the Prophets are read on these 3 Shabbatot, and deal with the impending warnings of destruction and a hopeful/redemptive return to Jerusalem. It is called Shabbat Chazon because it is the first word in the Haftarah from Isaiah, it is his "Vision", Chazon. the next 7 weeks lead us to the High Holidays, believe it or not, and are readings of Consolation from the Prophets.

Shalom My Dear Friends,
I'd like to encourage you during this time of COVID-19; of physical-distancing in prudent judgment and comfortable personal parameters, to join together via our Live-Streamed Shabbat "Service" on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at 10AM
